Pantone's Color of the Year: Viva Magenta. How to Incorporate It Into Your Space

by DecorMatters|Jan 31, 2023

Pantone's Color of the Year has been announced! And this year, it's Viva Magenta (18-1750)—an energetic hue that can liven up any home decor in a snap of a finger. This vibrantly exceptional pink-purple is perfect for adding a sense of optimism, joy, and creativity to any space in your design overhaul.

If you're not feeling the total commitment to an entire overhaul in Pantone's fun new best-seller, you can use it as an accent color combined with other shades to give your home decor a modern twist.

Viva Magenta will provide just the right amount of flair. With its versatility, you'll find something that suits your style and reflects your personality. Let's explore how you can utilize this fun color in your home across different rooms!

Take Small Steps at First

For some, using this theatrical color can be a challenge.

The key is to take baby steps. Introduce the color by opting for Viva Magenta-inspired blinds or curtains. Window coverings will stand out in small increments but still draw the eye, taking center stage.

Remember during your design process this color will naturally draw attention to itself. If you paint your entire living room this color, you're clearly on the cusp of this hue utterly captivating you and possessing the vigor, hope, and joy it inspires.

However, if you don't feel that in touch with the color to the point of splashing it all over everything you own, there are plenty of ways you can balance it out with other colors and make it a popping statement in any room.

How to Use Viva Magenta With Other Colors

It's common for those looking to re-design their space to always opt for neutral. After all, it's a safe bet—much cleaner, simpler, and easier to decorate. But the time has come for you to experiment with a few color combinations in the bedroom! It's undoubtedly hiding in your subconscious somewhere.

As a general rule of thumb, we'd recommend dark blue against green with a touch of Viva Magenta for a sophisticated, classy, yet totally unique, art-deco look.

If full maximalist is in your 2023 New Year resolution alongside all the newest interior design trends, we’d suggest adding a plant print wallpaper alongside your Viva Magenta touch. It will give your room a brand-new rejuvenation and bring the outside in.

Look at it as a test of your balancing of colors! If the above isn't to your taste, Viva Magenta paired with an off-white background, with splashes of the above color in your decor works too. Pair with white bed sheets and a magenta blanket or pillow covers, and you'll already start to feel the difference.

If you're one of those people who want to take Viva Magenta to the next level, you can paint your front door and alter the atmosphere and initial impressions of your house.

In an instant, your Viva Magenta-inspired door gives off the vibe that you are a trendsetter and ahead of the curve! There is some leeway when picking the best colors for a front door to deviate from the standard and use a hue that will fit your personality, like this daring hue.
