The concept of minimalism involves taking everything down to the basics. This can include aspects like lifestyle, architecture, or in this case, interior design. Keeping designs simple by one using the bare necessities, sticking to clean lines, and following a monochromatic color palette are guidelines that can be used in order to stick to a minimalist interior design.

Just a few days ago we celebrated the belated birthday of my husband who came over from afar to spend some time here in our home. We invited dear friends and transformed our living room into a welcoming space for more than ten guests with loads of delicious Brazilian food, good drinks, and flowers. I ordered two flower bouquets extra for the occasion.

In Taylor’s room, we added a fun pink stripe detail to the shade. The color works perfectly with the pink accents in her room and is subtle to tie her room decor together.

I love serving a seasonal menu like butternut squash or split pea soup just when the weather is getting a bit cooler. When I bought these Martha Stewart ones I looked high and low for just the right look with many brands available, now the best place to look is eBay. When did I become so vintage?!

This year’s color story is all about classic warmth with a touch of rustic details. I paired them with subtle harvest-themed tableware and woven chargers and completed the setup with orange fringed napkins. If you look closely, you’ll notice the napkin rings say “blessed” and “thankful,” isn’t that what this season is all about?

And of course, you can’t forget the florals — here I added a wreath in soft rose, yellows, blues, and ivory tones around my pumpkin bowl centerpiece.

Last year I used the soup tureen to house the florals. This year with more of a Fall toned theme, I surrounded the tureen with silk florals and berries. This did allow me to set my Thanksgiving table way in advance! Now the only thing left is the delicious meal that will be shared by our loved ones.
