Bloggers Share Their Favorite Room to Style for the Holidays

by DecorMatters|updated Dec 10, 2021

This is the best time of the year to bust out your best holiday decorations for the home, but that does not always mean that your home has to be decked out with colorful and loud Christmas home decor. If you are curious and nosy of how a couple of our favorite bloggers managed to decorate for the holidays in a simple, but effective way, we have the inside scoop! They shared with us their favorite room to style during the holiday season and gave us a sneak peek at their holiday home decor ideas.

What is your favorite room to style during the holiday season?

Kate: “My favorite room to style is our living room. The fireplace is the heart of our home and it really shines when it is decked out with garland, candles, stockings, and a roaring fire.”

Creative director and founder of Wit & Delight, Kate started the blog when she was $10k in debt and worried about paying her bills with her next paycheck or lack thereof if she were to lose her job. In 2014, Kate shared her journey with divorce, mental illness, and an undiagnosed learning ability through personal essays she published on her blog. What started as a safety net became an exciting new career 3.3 million followers later. Based in Minnesota, Wit & Delight is your go-to for support and relatable life experiences, finding suggestions for travel and food, tips for motherhood, and more.

What is your favorite room to style during the holiday season?

Caitlin & Manda: “My favorite room to style for the holidays is my living room. That room features our staircase and I love to add fresh greenery and other simple garlands, like a dried orange garland, to the railings. We also recently added a fireplace, so having a mantle to decorate this season is something I’ve really been looking forward to!”

The Merrythought is a Western New York-based lifestyle site devoted to simple living that was established in 2013 by Caitlin and Manda. These wonderful women share many creative and useful DIY projects with a focus on natural and affordable materials, home, food, and lifestyle posts. Caitlin is a lifetime crafter that is passionate about everyone taking the time to partake in DIY projects every now and then. She loves hiking, snacking, and being with her friends and family. Manda is a hardcore coffee and donut lover who is happiest at home in the countryside with her husband, Mike, and her three boys.

We love that these bloggers chose their living room as their favorite room to style for the holidays. It is the center of gathering and cozying up on the couch, especially during the colder holiday season.
